Pharmacy Operations Manager- Medication Prior Authorization

Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our System Pharmacy Administration leadership team in the role of Pharmacy Operations Manager.

This position is responsible for providing operational leadership and administrative oversight for centralized Medication Prior Authorization. This newly formed team will support IU Health providers and clinics statewide for authorizations covered by payers through pharmacy benefits. Reporting to pharmacy leadership, the Manager leads assigned teams to ensure efficient, standardized, and high-quality prior authorization operations that support timely patient access to medications, regulatory compliance, and optimal financial outcomes. The role is accountable for workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and retention of team member staff, as well as day-to-day operational management. In partnership with stakeholders, the Manager drives continuous improvement through the analysis and implementation of processes, systems, and performance metrics to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and service quality across Medication Prior Authorization operations.

This position exists to provide for the effective recruitment, retention, supervision and leadership of assigned employees in the Pharmacy Department. Manages ongoing analysis, development, and implementation of methods and systems to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of services and functions. This is a day shift hybrid role reporting to the Integrated Service Center 2-3 days/wk.

Key Relationships: Medication refill team, clinics, specialty retail pharmacies

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.
* BS degree in Pharmacy or related field preferred. Requires current Indiana license or eligibility for Indiana licensure as a Pharmacy Technician.
* Pharmacy Technician National Certification Board (PTCB) certification preferred. Requires knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to dispensing of drugs and narcotics.
* Requires knowledge of pharmacy and hospital computer systems and computer-assisted devices.
* Requires knowledge in business applications.
* Requires ability to plan and manage the utilization of resources.
* Requires ability to facilitate and lead work groups.
* Requires ability to apply the organization personnel policies and procedures.
