The role you’ll contribute:
The RN/Hyperbaric Safety Director is responsible for the oversight and instrumental development of the Hyperbaric safety policies and procedures; responsible for maintaining and educating the department with the most current applicable safety guidelines as dictated by the relating bodies (ie NFPA 99). The Hyperbaric Safety Director is the key representative for the hyperbaric department as it relates to safety, maintenance, chamber system compliance, problem solving, and department education. Responsible for supervising, competency training-including initial and annual orientation, adherence to standards of care and safety of the Hyperbaric Technicians and other relevant department staff. Assist physicians and staff in the identification of patients who would benefit from HBO therapy and ensures appropriate documentation is in the patient’s record. Assists in delivery of hyperbaric treatments; maintaining patient and environmental safety at all times.
The RN/Hyperbaric Safety Director is responsible for acting as a role model for the mission, and patient promise of AdventHealth Zephyrhills. S/he is accountable for working within the parameters of the Florida Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards, established policies, protocols and procedures; and utilizes other pertinent references as guidelines for clinical practice. S/he critically evaluates evidence for application to clinical practice in his / her area of practice.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Maintain visual observation and/or audible contact with the patient in the hyperbaric chamber and the control panel at all times.
If hyperbaric technicians leave the hyperbaric room/environment for any reason, they are responsible for obtaining coverage during their absence.
Reports unusual occurrences to the hyperbaric physician, Clinical Manager, and Director.
Coordinates and supervises safety drills and exercises as dictated by regulatory requirements.
Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments and/or emergencies.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Minimum of two years of wound care and hyperbaric experience
Completed Wound Care and Hyperbaric Introductory Course
Completed Hyperbaric Safety Director Course within 1 year
CHT/CHRN within 1 year
Current Florida state Registered Nurse licensure
Current American Heart Association BLS certification
