The role you’ll contribute:
Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Sous Chef is responsible for supervising the food production area through appropriate delegation of duties to production associates.Ensures staff competency by continually developing production employees through coaching, training of new staff, and annual performance reviews.Is a team player who displays goods decision-making, excellent communication skills, and a professional manner in all aspects of work.Must be flexible and able to deliver services on any shift.Utilizes and manages resources appropriately and ensures food safety is practiced in all aspects of the operation.Plays a key role in the development and implementation of new menu items.Recommends and participates in the disciplinary process.Assists in the creation of department processes and procedures to ensure consistency, quality and ease of operations.Supports the hospital’s strategic plan and department goals by commitment to individual goals.

Nutrition Associate 1 acts as customer service liaison between Nutrition Services, Nursing units, and patients with the focus of providing excellent customer service and outstanding patient care.Nutrition Associates perform a variety of duties including but not limited to: food preparation; meal delivery; stocking/restocking of department supplies; sanitation functions; safe food handling; patient menu selections; cafeteria cashier.Nutrition Associate 1 must be able to work accurately and efficiently on multiple tasks throughout the day and is capable of frequently switching tasks to focus on patient requests or other pressing customer service needs.
What You Will Be Responsible For:
Customer Service
Maintains a positive relationship with clinical & non-clinical colleagues, nutrition staff, patients, and their families.
Actively reaches out to nursing units as well as patients to gather meal orders, preferences and clarify orders.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills for appropriate communication and courtesy using AIDET and LAST regarding service recovery.
Strives to go above and beyond the customer’s expectations and tries to satisfy the patient/guest’s needs even when it is outside the normal routine.
Always maintains professional behavior and appearance in the workplace through grooming, dress, language, and non-verbal behavior.
Communication
·Informs supervisor/manager of patient/guest comments and food service issues.
·Reports software issues to manager to improve the overall operations of the system and improve patient satisfaction.
·Able to use all communication tools and methods necessary to complete required tasks.
·Maintains open communication with manager regarding concerns and opportunities for development in line with AdventHealth Talent Care.
Accuracy
·Assuring that the meal tray matches the meal ticket for patient safety as well as identify and correct any errors.
·Uses sound judgement when acting as a steward for the department’s resources.
·Demonstrates proper use of the cash register/POS system and accurately completes cash transactions.
Safety and Sanitation
Maintains a neat, well-organized workstation.
Practices good hand hygiene and demonstrates proper procedures when using single-use gloves.Restrains hair when in food prep/service areas.
Understands and adheres to all food safety/sanitation standards related to the position and reports any areas of concern to a supervisor/manager.
Demonstrates knowledge of the food temperature danger zone.Demonstrates knowledge of proper food storage including FIFO, labeling & dating of items, as well as when to discard food items for the purpose of safety.
Demonstrates safety guidelines in the kitchen including knowledge of emergency exits, fire extinguisher use, and emergency preparedness.
Job Knowledge
·Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations at all times.
·Demonstrates knowledge of the basic diet types and can help guide patients in meal selections, as well as audit meal tickets to meet diet goals.
·Comfortable navigating the hospital and seeking out resources from nursing, dietitians and team leadership when needed for support.
·Understands where to find and how to follow patient menu recipes.
·Makes efforts to learn new skills frequently and at a proficient level.
Work Readiness
·Consistently arrives on time for shift, beginning tray line on time, and arriving on nursing units at the same time each day, and completes work in an efficient manner.
·Follows Nutrition Associate 1 routine to ensure that all work is produced in an efficient, timely manner and is error free.
·Consistently answers phone calls in a timely fashion and returns phone messages quickly.
Problem Solving Skills
Capable of making reasonable, rational, common sense decisions while working with patients, nutrition staff, medical staff, and guests.
Takes responsibility for issues as they arise and proactively finds solutions.
Communicates all safety concerns to department manager.
Patient Contact
Responds to patient requests with compassion and efficiency; communicates with patients regarding service recovery.
Verifies patient identity using two patient identifiers.
Qualifications
Qualifications - External
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
·Read, Write & Speak English
·Legible handwriting
·Mathematical skills essential to job duties
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
·Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish)
·Skilled at Microsoft office suite
·Experience with a Point of Sale System
·Food Safety and Sanitation
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
·No previous experience is required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
·1+ years of position related experience
·Prior experience as a dietary aide, diet clerk, clerical or hospital/care facility foodservice
·LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
·ServSafe Foodservice Certified
