The Sr. Orthopedic Technician is accountable to and evaluated by the Patient Care Manager (or designee) for the Surgical or Orthopedic Unit, in collaboration with appropriate nursing personnel. Support their respective clinical area as it relates to orthopedic procedures, treatment and care.
Acts as a consultant on orthopedic procedures and policies.
As necessary, accurately sets up traction and maintains traction beds.
Carries out all responsibilities in a pleasant, courteous and cooperative manner.
Conducts all communication (verbal and written) in an effective, accurate, courteous manner.
Contributes in a positive manner to the unit, department and hospital goals.
Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.
Effectively maintains and manages their respective clinical area and performs required duties on a daily basis.
Establishes and facilitates appropriate working relationships between the orthopedic area and work areas of the Hospital (nursing units, ED, OR, Clinic).
Follows unit and departmental guidelines related to staffing and scheduling.
Initiates problem-solving techniques on a timely basis.
Maintains adequate inventory of materials and equipment.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
License/Certification: Current American Heart Association (AHA) Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families and staff, including high volume and stressful situations.

Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the safe and effective performance of the job.
Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes.
