The Operating Room (OR) Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative period, collaborating with the surgical team to strategize, implement and evaluate individualized care plans. Patient populations include: ENT, General Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Liver Transplant, GU, GI, Neurological, Vascular and Orthopedic cases. Based on education and experience, the OR nurse may be serve as a preceptor. The duties and responsibilities of the OR nurse include but are not limited to the following: Provides professional nursing care to assigned operating room patients including but not limited to a preoperative nursing assessment, an intra-operative nursing care plan, implementation and documentation of care given, as well as the documentation of patient disposition post-operatively Collaborates with the surgical team to developing, implementing and evaluating individualized plans of care. May be assigned responsibilities as a preceptor.
