The Lebanon VA Medical Center is currently recruiting for one full-time Physician Assistant to serve in the Surgery Service and supports the Orthopedics Clinic. Duties: Incumbent facilitates the delivery of patient care in collaboration with the Orthopedic Surgeons to assist in all aspects for patient care including working in an orthopedic outpatient clinic, assisting during surgery in the operating room and completion of inpatient documentation and needed post-op orders on all the surgery cases. Incumbent establishes and maintains relationships within the medical center and other specialties that result in improved patient care. Incumbent accepts substantial and continuing responsibility and accountability for planning, coordinating and controlling a complex integrated health care specialty. Assures all staff are compliant with standards of professional practice within the orthopedic department. Scope: Incumbent will assist the orthopedic surgeons with surgery cases in the operating room. He/she will also be responsible to review and ensure completion of inpatient discharge summaries for Orthopedic Surgery Service, adding addendums on discharge summaries that are deficient in meeting the current requirements including medication reconciliation. Makes daily rounds and facilitates patient care and discharge planning. Incumbent will also work in the orthopedics outpatient clinic, assisting the specialist with new consult evaluations, injections and post-op exams by running an independent clinic. He/she will practice under the supervision of the Orthopedic Surgeon in the specified clinic. Performs full range of administrative duties for the specialty section at the medical center including participation in outside organizations. Major duties and responsibilities for the Orthopedic Physician include but are not limited to: Evaluates and treats Veterans with Orthopedic conditions and initiates consultation and follow ups Coordinates/Assists Providers with VA administrative requirements Assists with entering orders, consults, schedules surgeries Coordinates operative schedule (reviews OR cases to be sure IMPACT completed) Enters X-Ray orders for upcoming clinics Coordinates clinic schedules and patient scheduling Triages and reviews new patient consult requests and ensures appropriate scheduling Manages Orthopedic clinic inventory Obtains iMed consent Prepares injection sites and performs joint injections Educates patients for pre and post injections Documents procedures and encounters Performs preop H&P's Assists with patient positioning and prep First assist on surgical procedures Independent wound closure/dressing Assists with patient transfer and transport Work Schedule: M-F 8:00 - 4:30 PM Telework: Not available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
