The Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Team is an interdisciplinary team which works with veterans to identify personal goals for mental health recovery through proactive, integrated, and comprehensive mental health services. The social worker will assist in this recovery oriented approach. The Senior Social Worker typically practice social work in a major specialty treatment program area. The Senior Social Worker is assigned to administrative responsibility for clinical program development and is accountable for clinical program effectiveness and modification of service patterns. You may be assigned to work with special patient populations with highly complex health or mental health problems requiring expert level psychosocial interventions. The duties are but not limited to the following: Performs specialized treatment of complex physical or mental illness. Provides advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of veterans with polytrauma injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, post-traumatic stress disorder, addictions, and other serious disorders. Expected to have experience and certification in evidenced based psychotherapies or the skills and abilities to learn advanced evidenced based psychotherapies Offer consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients treated in specialty areas, rendering professional opinions based on experience and expertise and role modeling effective social work practice skills. Monitor the efficiency, effectiveness, timeliness, quality of services offered within the program area. Ensures that social work practice is evidence-based and in keeping with recognized social work treatment methods. Provides consultation and technical assistance and mentoring to a group of employees performing work at various GS levels, particularly those at the entry level. Practice as a senior social worker on an on-going basis through participation in professional peer practice, self-study or other organized means. Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm Note: Tour of duty and hours may change based on the needs of the Department for times of special purpose or emergencies as directed by the Chief of Mental Health Service.
