Operating Room - Duke Health Perioperative Services offers opportunities for RNs to continue or start their operating room career! New Grads and experienced RNs without OR experience are invited to consider our New to the Operating Room Program. All three Duke Hospitals have received Magnet designation for excellence in nursing, and all offer New to the OR opportunities. Duke Raleigh Hospital and Duke Regional Hospital - RNs scrub and circulate in all surgical specialties in a community hospital environment with the resources and opportunities of the greater Duke Health system.
Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center and Davis Ambulatory Surgery Center - RNs scrub and circulate in multiple ambulatory surgeries in a fast-paced weekday shift and enjoy a schedule with no call or weekends.
Duke University Hospital Surgical Service Lines: RNs scrub and circulate in one of our specialty service lines at our Level One Trauma center operating 24-hours, 7 days a week, where you will have opportunities to participate in national and international research, education, and cutting edge technologies.\

Surgical Care Unit - The Surgical Care Unit is a 12-bed, 23-hour post-operative, observation unit. You will be responsible for the recovery care of the post-surgical out-patients who have been transferred from the PACU to include but not limited to: initial and on-going assessment of the patient's condition; administering of medications; initiation of any support therapy that is indicated, i.e. physical therapy; wound care, ADL care; etc.
Surgical Short Stay - Our Short Stay team cares for immediate Post-Op Med Surgical in-patients who are typically under 23 - hour observation in a 9 - bed unit.
Adult & Pediatric PreOp and PACU - With over 26,000 patient visits per year, Duke University Hospital's Perianesthesia Department provides world-renowned patient and family centered care. With strengths in teamwork, inter-disciplinary collaboration, and professional respect, we offer a dynamic environment for professional development. Our Perianesthesia Unit has 123 beds and support the PreOp and recovery for all inpatient surgical specialties for children and adult procedures at Duke University Hospital. The team has received three health system-wide awards for Patient Satisfaction.
Same Day Surgery - Duke Raleigh Hospital cares for our surgical patients; pre and post-operatively. Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time. The unit averages around 65 patient surgeries per day at Duke Raleigh Hospital (pediatric to geriatric populations) which includes general surgery to craniotomy, orthopedic, vascula, ENT, breast surgery and many others (with the excpetion of transplant, open heart and mother-baby surgeries).
Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center - The Ambulatory Surgery Center at Duke University Hospital has nine operating rooms, 13 PreOp, 11 PACU bays and is currently expanding. Our nurses are trained on both Preop and PACU . Our surgical specialties include sports medicine, and arthroscopy, breast cancer with reconstruction, plastic surgery, foot and ankle, kyphoplasty, urology and gynecology. We treat patients from 6 months through age 99 and work with the most advanced technology.
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
CNI - New Graduate RN - No Experience Required
CNII - Experienced RN - At least twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required as an RN.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
